This summer, Philly Joe’s belongs to its residents! The stage is set for Estonia’s rising young musicians — distinctive bandleaders and artists with a fresh sonic voice, already shaping the future of the local alternative scene.

Each night brings a new focus, sound and line-up, ranging from premieres of new material to one-of-a-kind experiments and late-night jam sessions. 

Expect contemporary jazz and everything orbiting around it! All summer long in the heart of Tallinn, at Philly Joe's Jazz Club!

“Strange Arrangements"

Kairiin Kukk is a jazz pianist and composer who is fascinated by music as a space for discovery — an opportunity to push boundaries, step away from conventional rules, and explore new timbres and forms of expression. She is developing a distinctive musical voice in which jazz, contemporary music, progressive rock, and metal are interwoven. At the moment, Kairiin’s goal is to release her debut album by the end of this year. She has participated in numerous projects, including the 2024 Nordic Jazz Meeting, an exchange programme at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, and the 2025 IASJ Jazz Meeting in Austria. This year, she was awarded the Audience Favourite title at the Estonian Jazz Awards.

“Strange Arrangements” is a concert for everyone — featuring well-known pop songs in a completely new guise, unlike anything you have heard before. Performed by an 11-member ensemble, these pop hits are transformed into bold jazz-fusion and funk arrangements that twist familiar melodies into unexpected rhythms, rich harmonies, and infectious grooves. The result is at once recognizable and entirely fresh. And there’s a strong chance that more than a few of these arrangements will get your foot tapping more than the original songs themselves.

“Strange Arrangements” is not just a concert, but an energetic musical experience where pop hits meet the boldness of jazz fusion and the irresistible groove of funk. Dense horn lines, epic grooves, and sparkling solos keep the energy high from start to finish.
