Ensemble for New Music Tallinn and Katariin Raska (bagpipe)

Thu, Nov 13, 2025 at 07:00 PM
 (Kursi tänav 3, Tallinn)

The bagpipe ("torupill" in Estonian) is known in various parts of the world for its distinctive sound and is usually associated with diatonic music. However, thanks to its unique construction it offers a rare opportunity to explore and discover intonation from a new perspective. The concert combines the unique Estonian bagpipe with a contemporary music ensemble. An exciting and varied concert experience is guaranteed by the fact that the composers who have created new works for the bagpipe and the ensemble each have a very different approach to microintervals and a distinctive musical language.
