Swinging at Philly Joe’s: Duo Tundmus Meets the Band

Swinging at Philly Joe’s brings together swing dancers, musicians and a swing loving audience! This evening is intended for everyone whose vinyl rack contains rarities or who has been looking for a new kind of excitement to their weekend, because Philly Joe’s hall will become a hot dance floor! We’ve also put some thought into those enjoying themselves from a distance, leaving comfortable sofas and booths in the hall where you can experience the lively evening.

Duo Tundmus Meets the Band is an ensemble led by pianist Lisanne Pappel and vocalist Gloria Elisabeth Jörberg. They are joined on stage by Felix Verlin on double bass and Enn Veikesaar on drums. The program features well-known swing standards as well as original compositions inspired by the music of the swing era. The duo’s debut album "Sleepless Nights" was released in August 2025. Currently, the duo members are furthering their studies in the Netherlands: Gloria Elisabeth Jörberg is studying jazz vocals at Codarts University in Rotterdam, and Lisanne Pappel is pursuing jazz piano at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

The evening will continue with DJs from the Tallinn Swing Dance Society.  

Lindy Hop is a swing dance that originated in the heyday of the swing era, in the Harlem district of New York in the 1930s. Lindy Hop is a mixture of several dance styles of that era, such as jazz, tap and Charleston. The dance style, which quickly gained popularity, conquered all of America and soon spread all over the world. The new dance style got its name from the first non-stop flight from New York to Paris, which was performed by Charles Lindbergh, nicknamed Lucky Lindy.
