Duo Fuss/Leichtfried (AUT)
DUO FUSS/LEICHTFRIED
Picture two playing cards leaning on one another to create a stable rhythmic and interactive construct – this is how pianist Jörg Leichtfried describes the duo project with trumpeter Dominik Fuss. Fuss and Leichtfried know each other from various exciting musical formations and genres, but this project unites their common passion for lyrical simplicity and intimacy.
Jörg Leichtfried is a jazz pianist, composer, and lecturer for jazz piano at the Jam Music Lab University in Vienna. He’s performed in over 25 countries worldwide as part of his international concert activities and has collaborated with artists such as Wolfgang Puschnig, Cameron Brown, Hans Salomon, Andy Middleton, and others. His work has been recognized with awards including the Culture Prize of Lower Austria (2021) and the State Scholarship for Composition (2024).
Dominik Fuss is a trumpeter, composer & improvisor based in Vienna. Within his work, he is constantly trying to discover new ways of rethinking the creative landscape, including exploring the boundaries between jazz, classical and contemporary music. Aside from purely technical considerations such as rhythm and harmony, the most important parameter in his work is constant change, while always retaining a distinctive, essential identity. He has worked alongside some of the leading figures from various musical fields such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Juan Diego Florez, George Lewis, Vinko Globokar and Anthony Coleman.
