RESIDENT: Anett Tamm. Improvisations & Drum Machines • Philly Joe's Summer Residency
RESIDENT: ANETT TAMM. IMPROVISATIONS & DRUM MACHINES
Friday, 15 August 9 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
The Philly Joe’s Summer Residency programme provides a platform for talented young Estonian artists on the jazz scene! New ensembles, colourful programs and the opportunity to hear jazz and music with its influences from a new perspective on every concert evening - all this is offered by selected artists, week after week throughout the summer.
August's resident is singer-songwriter Anett Tamm who will be performing with different projects and collaborators every week. The resident can be heard on Fridays throughout the month (01.08, 08.08 and 15.08).
“Improvisations & Drum Machines”
Anett Tamm and Martin Petermann, who have been playing together in numerous bands and projects since 2017, will perform as a creative duo for the first time as part of the residency program. You can expect an evening of playful and improvisational pop carried by electronic rhythms and saturated with humor, experimentation, and depth.
Martin Petermann has been a drummer since 2006 and collaborated with more than 50 artists from Estonia and abroad, mainly in the fields of jazz, folk, rock, pop, and reggae. As a musician, he is characterized by openness, creativity, a sensitive and precise playing style, and always a gentle attitude. In addition to drumming, Martin also works as a drum teacher and recording and mixing engineer. He can currently be heard and seen behind the drums in several bands, including Alonette, Meelik, Mingo Rajandi, Anemoon, Blackout Trio, INGA, Frankie Animal, MiaMee, and others.
Anett Tamm is a versatile singer, improviser and composer who works on projects with different artistic ambitions. Anett Tamm's main active projects are alternative folk-pop solo project Alonette, indie-jazz duo TamTam with bass guitarist Karl Tammaru, and the contemporary and improvisational ensemble Anemoon. As a vocalist, Anett has previously participated in the avant-garde ensemble IHA led by Raimond Mägi and the alt-jazz ensemble The Nonconceptual Art Club. She also worked as the leader, singer and composer of the art pop band Alfa Collective from 2017 to 2022. Since 2021, Anett has collaborated with the French band David Chevallier Trio, creating the original program “Borders”, with which they toured in France, Luxembourg, Finland, Estonia and Latvia in the fall of 2024. Anett has participated in several special projects, including the ensemble Põrgutule Pärlid, Kirke Karja's program "Sireenid" (“Sirens”), Raimond Mägi's work "Purpurpunase liblika lend" (“Flight of the Purple-Red Butterfly”) and the tribute concerts "Valter Ojakäär 100". With her various ensembles, she has performed at festivals and concert venues all over Estonia and Europe. In spring 2022, Anett received the Young Jazz Talent award at the Estonian Jazz Awards.
